Walters Earns UAA Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Freshman Rai Walters (Westlake, Ohio/St. Ignatius) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's indoor track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for field events following his performance at Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, January 30.

Walters set a new school record in the long jump when he leapt 6.95 meters to win the event at the Battle for the Obelisk. His jump ranks him ninth in the nation and tops in the UAA He also finished second in the high jump, clearing 1.75 meters and fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.13 meters.

The team is back in action this weekend at Denison University for the Bob Shannon Invitational which starts at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6.
