Schofel Named UAA Field Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Sophomore Jacob Schofel (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for field events following his performance at the Carnegie Mellon University Mini Invitational on Friday and Saturday, March 25-26. Schofel won the hammer throw and placed fourth in the shot put and javelin as he helped the Tartans win the invitational.

Schofel's winning throw in the hammer was measured at 52.33 meters which is first in the UAA, fourth in the nation, and third best in school history. The sophomore later placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 12.48 meters which is seventh best in the UAA and fourth in the javelin with a throw of 46.25 meters which ranks fifth in the UAA.

The Tartans' next competition will be back at Gesling Stadium on April 2 when they host their annual Quad Meet beginning at 10:00 a.m.
