Harter and Mills Named CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University juniors Andrew Harter (Saratoga, Calif.) and Isaac Mills (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Google Cloud Academic All-District Team for men's cross country and track and field.

In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.300 and be a significant contributor to the team. Carnegie Mellon is part of District 4 which is comprised of all Division III schools in the state of Pennsylvania. Harter and Mills will now move on to the national ballot for Academic All-America recognition which will be released on June 19.

This past fall Harter helped the Tartans cross country team place 21st at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. The junior was the fourth Tartan to cross the finish line with a time of 25:49.62 on the 8k course. Harter also competed on the Tartans indoor and outdoor track and field teams. This season he posted an indoor personal-best time of 8:39.61 in the 3,000-meter run to place fourth at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships. He then posted an outdoor personal-best time in the same event to place first at the Carnegie Mellon Quad with a time of 8:38.39.

In the classroom, Harter is a mechanical engineering major and carries a 3.72 grade point average. Since November 2016, he has been the Chief Research Officer at Hillside Hydro where he assists in development of hydroelectric generators. Last summer Harter was a Digital Manufacturing Engineering Intern for Earlens Corporation.

Mills competed at the 2018 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships where he ran to an 11th-place finish with a career-best time of 1:53.68. The junior earned four All-UAA honors this year for the indoor and outdoor seasons and has compiled nine for his career. He is part of the school record distance medley relay team that competed at the 2017 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Mills is a chemical engineering major and holds a 3.57 GPA. He is the president of Carnegie Mellon's Student-Athlete Advisory Council and co-coordinator of Carnegie Mellon Field Day. Last summer Mills was a Market Research Intern for RTP Company and has also been a Software Developer Intern for Expedition Technology Inc.
