Three Tartans to Compete at NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – Three Carnegie Mellon University men's indoor track and field athletes have received an invite to compete at the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 10-11.

This marks the fourth straight indoor championships that the Tartans will have three or my athletes competing.

Sophomore Cody Breidenbach will return to the championships competing in the weigh throw following a seventh-place finish a year ago in the event, as he earned All-America honors. Joining the sophomore in Alabama will be juniors Alex Ivanov and Andrew McGovern who will both run in the 800-meter race.

Breidenbach will enter this year's event ranked 11th in the weight throw with a mark of 18.73 meters. Ivanov and McGovern rank third and fourth, respectively, with converted times of 1:49.83 and 1:50.08. Both times were set at the University Athletic Association indoor meet where they swept the top two spots and broke the meet record time.

This year's championships will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.
