Gates Receives UAA Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University junior Evan Gates (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.  Gates earned the honor following his performance at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational Saturday, October 8.

Gates guided the team to a third-place finish at the 13-team Carnegie Mellon Invitational.  He finished fourth in the field of 133 harriers with a time of 25:45.64.  Gates was the first NCAA Division III runner to cross the finish line.

The Tartans will next compete at Penn State University on Friday, October 14, at 10:00 a.m.
