Tartans Open Season at Duquesne Duals

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team opened the season at the Duquesne Duals at Schenley Park Saturday morning. The Tartans ran well as they scored better than three opponents including two Division I universities.

Freshman Brian Bollens (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) led the Tartans with a 15th-place finish in a time of 27:52. Freshman Marc-Daniel Julien (Skokie, Ill./Niles West) placed 21st with a time of 28:19 while a trio of Tartans finished within six seconds of each other. Senior Marc McGeary (Harrisburg, Pa./C.D. East) crossed in 28:19 in 25th-place while freshmen Lawton Tellin (Mt. Lebanon, Pa.) and Keith Geiger (Moraga, Calif./Campolindo) finshed 27th and 28th with times of 28:46 and 28:47, respectively.

Senior Chris Baldwin (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) crossed in 29:13 to place 32nd while freshman Ben Schiller (Charlottsville, Va./Western Albemarle) placed 35th with a time of 29:28.

The Tartans will race again on Friday, September 14 at Cooper's Lake Campground for the Slippery Rock Invitational at 5:45 p.m.
