Newby Paces Tartans at the Greater Louisville Classic

(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team competed at the Greater Louisville Classic Saturday, October 5.  The race had a field of 269 runners from Division I, II and III with more than half from Division I institutions.

The Tartans were led by senior Josh Newby (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) who crossed with a time of 25:52.27.  His time was 85th overall and 36th best of Non Division I runners.  Sophomore Marc-Daniel Julien (Skokie, Ill./Niles West) was the second Tartan to cross, as he had a time of 26:37.58.

Senior Ken Murphy (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) crossed with a time of 26:45.29 while senior Brendan O'Hara (Chicago, Ill./Latin School of Chicago) and junior George Degen (Madison, Wis./West) finished fourth and fifth for the Tartans with times of 27:01.19 and 27:09.18, respectively.

Junior Josh Antonson (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) had a time of 27:28.34 followed by fellow junior Eamon Cullinane (Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet) with a time of 28:38.50.

The Tartans will host the Carnegie Mellon Invite on Saturday, October 5 at 11:45 a.m.
