Tartans Win Fourth Straight Carnegie Mellon Cross Country Invitational; Archer Wins Second Straight Race

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team hosted its annual invitational on Saturday, October 10 and for the fourth straight year the Tartans won the 20-team event. Leading the way for the Tartans with the top individual finish was junior Ryan Archer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy) as he crossed the finish line with a time of 26:00.4 in a field of 205 runners.

Sophomore Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) placed third with a time of 26:07.5 while the Tartans had two other runners place in the top 10 and seven total in the top 15.  Junior Steven Kool (Vienna, Va./Thomas Jefferson HS for Science and Technology) crossed in 26:15.0 and senior Marc-Daniel Julien (Skokie, Ill./Niles West) recorded a time of 26:20.2 placing seventh and ninth, respectively.

Senior Brian Bollens (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) and freshman William Mitchell (Chatham, N.J.) crossed in 11th and 12th with times of26:24.4 and 26:26.2.  Rounding out the Tartans top seven was freshman Jared Moore (Beaver Dams, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) crossing in 26:30.5 in 15th.

The Carnegie Mellon men's cross country team will be competing at the Inter-Regional Rumble at Oberlin College next Saturday, October 17.
