Smith Named UAA Pitcher of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) –  Senior Amanda Smith has been honored as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance during three doubleheaders for the Carnegie Mellon University softball team from March 20 through March 24.

Smith set the single-game school record for strikeouts with 16 in a 5-1 win against Waynesburg University to start the week. She followed it with the second-most strikeouts in school history with 15 against Kenyon College in a 4-1 win. Her third win of the week came against the University of Mount Union who was 12-1 entering the game. Smith struck out seven batters in the 7-4 win. Her ERA for the week was 1.94.

The Tartans open the University Athletic Association (UAA) schedule on Friday, March 29 at Emory University at 3:00 p.m. And will continue the four-game series with a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.
