Smith Garners Second UAA Weekly Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) –  Senior Amanda Smith has been honored as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second time following her performance for the Carnegie Mellon University softball team against New York University.

Smith earned two wins for the Tartans at NYU over the weekend and now has eight wins for the season in 12 starts. She started the weekend with a 3-0 no-hit shutout, taking a perfect game into the seventh inning before walking a batter. She recorded seven strikeouts in the win and now has 302 career strikeouts after fanning three batters in her second complete-game victory on Sunday. The no-hitter was the first of her career while the shutout was the second of the season and fourth of her career. 

The Tartans continue University Athletic Association (UAA) action on Friday, April 19 with a 3:00 p.m. home contest against Washington University in St. Louis.
