Women’s Golf Top Division III School After First Round of Allegheny Invitational

(MEADVILLE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team competed at the first day of the 2014 Allegheny College Invitational hosted at the par 73 Country Club of Meadville, Sunday, September 28.  The Tartans are currently in fourth place following day one of action after carding a team score of 347 and is the top Division III squad after 18-holes of play.

University of Toronto sits atop the leaderboard with a 314 followed by Mercyhurst University with a 321 and Seton Hill University with a 324.

Freshman Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) led the Tartans in the opening round after carding a six-over par 79.  Fellow freshman Emma Hoskins (Libertyville, Ill.) shot a 39 on the back nine to improve her score by seven strokes from the front, as she entered the clubhouse with an 85.

Freshmen Robin Tan (Austin, Texas/Westlake) carded an 86 Sunday afternoon while freshmen Diana Zhou (Diamond Bar, Calif.) and Frances Hughes (Palo Alto, Calif./Castilleja) turned in rounds of 97 and 103.

The Tartans had two freshmen individuals enter the invitational.  Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) shot a 101 and Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) ended the day with a 110.

Round two begins Monday morning with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m.
