Women’s Golf Places Fourth at Purple and White Invitational

(NEW ALBANY, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team competed at the final day of the Purple and White Invitational hosted by Capital University on Friday, April 3 and placed fourth after firing a team score of 738.  Round two of the 36-hole event was played at the par-72 New Albany Links in New Albany, Ohio following play Thursday on the par-72 Royal American Links in Galena, Ohio.

In the field of 10 teams, Trine University won the invitational with a 694 followed by University of Mount Union (714) and Urbana University (723).

Freshmen Robin Tan (Austin, Texas/Westlake) tied Trine's Amy Worthington for top individual medalist, but loss the tiebreaker which was based on a hole-by-hole playoff from the second round scores. Worthington carded better on the first hole, declaring her the individual medalist.
    
Tan improved 14 strokes on Friday afternoon from her opening round to finish with a 168 (91-77).  Classmate Emma Hoskins (Libertyville, Ill.) ended the invitational with a 186 (85-101). Freshmen Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) and Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) fired a two-round total of 199 (101-98) and 205 (105-100), respectively.

Playing as an individual, junior Yoon Hee Ha (Tigard, Ore.) finished the event with a 205 (106-99).

Carnegie Mellon will be back on the links Saturday, April 11 when the tee off at the Westminster College Spring Invitational. The 18-hole event is being held at the New Castle Country Club in New Castle, Pennsylvania.
