Women’s Golf Cards School Record Round at Second Day of Jekyll Island Collegiate
(JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team set a new school record during the second day of the 2016 Jekyll Island Collegiate Saturday, March 19. The Tartans fired a team score of 318 which tops the previous best round of 330 set in the opening round. Carnegie Mellon currently is in 11th after 36-holes of play with a two-round total of 648. The three-day event is being played on the par-72, 5,801-yard Indian Mounds Golf Club on Jekyll Island.
Sophomore Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) continued her stellar play and broke her own school record after carding a one-under par 71 on Saturday. The sophomore is in fourth-place individually with a 36-hole score of 147 (76-71).
Freshman Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) and sophomore Emma Hoskins (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) finished Saturday with a 36-hole total of 159 (79-80) and 166 (85-81). Hoskins round of 81 marked a season-best.
Sophomore Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) turned in a career-best round of 86 on Saturday and has a two-day score of 178. Senior Yoon Hee Ha (Tigard, Ore.) shot back-to-back rounds of 90 and has a 180 heading into play on Sunday.
The final round of the event will be held Sunday, March 15 with the first group teeing off at 8:00 a.m.
