Women’s Golf Opens Season at Allegheny Invitational

(MEADVILLE, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team opened its season competing at the first day of the 2016 Allegheny College Invitational on Sunday, September 25.  The 36-hole event is being played at the par 73 Country Club of Meadville.  The Tartans are currently tied for fifth out of 13 teams following day one of action after carding a team score of 342.

Junior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) led the Cardinal and Gray after entering the clubhouse with an 82 on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) and Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio) fired rounds of 84 and 85, respectively.

Freshman Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) shot a 91 while Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) finished with a 93.

The Tartans had one individual enter the invitational, as junior Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) shot a 102.

Round two begins Monday morning with a shotgun start beginning at 8:00 a.m.
