Tartans Win Shortened Capitol Hill Classic; Sudjianto Claims Individual Medalist

(PRATTVILLE, Ala.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team competed in the final round of the Capitol Hill Classic on Tuesday in Prattville, Alabama. Inclement weather forced the final round to nine holes for a total of a 27-hole event. The Tartans carded a team score of six-under par 138 over the final nine holes to win the 27-hole event with a score of 443 (+11).

How it Happened:

  • Graduate student Alexis Sudjianto fired a two-under par 34 on the final nine holes for a score of even par 108 (74-34) over the 27 holes. The senior garnered individual medalist hoors in a field of 68 golfers.
  • Junior Sriya Mupparaju tied for fourth individually with a 111 (76-35). Mupparaju recorded an eagle on hole eight during the final round.
  • Junior Kaylin Yeoh tied for seventh after finishing with a 112 (77-35).
  • Sophomore Sense Sangkagoon had a 117 (78-39).
  • Freshman Samantha Wang carded a two-under par 34 for the final round and had a 27-hole score of 119 (85-34).
  • The Tartans had one individual compete in the classic, as freshman Nikita Jadhav ended play with a 114 (77-37).

Notes:

  • The individual medalist honor for Sudjianto was the second for her collegiate career. The other came in her first year when she won the Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational.
  • The team win is the fifth for the Tartans this season tying for second most in a season. The record is six set during the 2014-15 season.
