Tartans Come Back to Top Rochester on the Road

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Freshman shine in helping the Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team win its second University Athletic Association (UAA) contest with a 2-1 come-from-behind win at University of Rochester on Friday, October 14. The Tartans move up to 8-4 on the year and 2-1 in the UAA as Rochester falls to 7-4 and 2-1.

With the Tartans trailing 1-0 at the break, a pair of second half subsitutes made their mark off the bench with goals shortly after taking the field.

Freshman Savina Reid (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Briarcliff) tied the score in the 71st minute when she deflected in a corner kick by sophomore Rachel Contopoulos (Oakland, Calif./Berkeley). The goal was Reid's fourth of the season.

Freshman forward Madison Nagle (Sacramento, Calif./Del Campo) assisted on fellow freshman midfielder Lucy Havens' (Seattle, Wash./Holy Names Academy) first career goal. Havens chipped in a long pass that came from Nagle in the 82nd minute for the eventual game winner. Also assisting on the play was sophomore Cecilia Zischkau (Washington, D.C./Oakcrest).

The Yellowjackets took a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute when Ellen Coleman scored her eighth goal of the season following combination passing by Ashley Hunt and Grace Van de Ven.

Sophomore Anna Albi (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day) earned her eighth victory of the season with five saves.

The Tartans will next face #22 Case Western Reserve University on Sunday, October 16, in Cleveland, Ohio. Game time is 1:30 p.m.
