Tartans Drop Road Game at #5 Emory

(ATLANTA, Ga.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team closed out the regular season at #5 Emory University on Saturday, November 5. The Eagles prevailed 2-0 to preserve their undefeated season at 15-0-2 as the Tartans finish at 9-7 overall and 3-4 in the University Athletic Association.

The Tartans put three shots on goal in the first fifteen minutes including one by freshman defender Lauren Simicich (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial) in the fifth minute to start the game strong. The period ended with no score as the Tartans put two more shots on frame in the 39th minute, the second of which was saved off the line by an Eagle defender off the foot of junior Katie Davis (Glen Gardner, N.J./Voorhees).

The nationally ranked Eagles took advantage of a defensive mishap by the Tartans in the 63rd minute when Lidija Barauskas intercepted a clearance and put a shot past sophomore keeper Anna Albi (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day).

The Eagles added to the score in the 77th minute as Charlotte Butker scored her fifth of the year on a shot from the side of the 18-yard box.

Emory held the Tartans to two shots in the second period while recording six of its own with three on goal.
