(CLEVELAND, Ohio) - The No. 15 Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team beat Case Western Reserve University 1-0 in Cleveland Friday night in another University Athletic Association (UAA) game. Senior forward Alex Venegas (Los Angeles, Calif./Harvard-Westlake School) recorded the game winner as freshman Katie Liston (Lakewood, Ohio/Montessori HS at University Circle) tallied her fourth win in net for the Tartans.

The first shot of the game was fired within the first minute by sophomore Carson Quiros (Atlanta, Ga./Whitefield Academy) but went wide of the goal.

The Tartans went up 1-0 in the 10th minute of the game when Venegas took a long shot from 30 yards out which got past the goalie and resulted in the only goal of the game. Venegas now has two goals on the season.

Liston, starting for the second time this season, held Case scoreless saving the two shots that were taken on frame by the Spartans to earn her second shutout of the year. One of the shots came in the 21st minute by Rachel Bourque with the final shot coming in the 79th minute by Katie Chapin.
