Quiros Named Women’s Soccer’s First CoSIDA Academic All-American

(AUSTIN, Texas) – Carnegie Mellon University senior Carson Quiros (Atlanta, Ga./Whitefield Academy) has been named to the 2015 Academic All-America Division III Women's Soccer team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The honor is the first for the program as eight have earned All-District honors.

Quiros is a three-year starter for the Tartans at midfield and a captain for this year's team that is currently ranked fifth in the nation and playing in the NCAA sectional for the third time in four years. Quiros has tallied four goals this season with two coming in a 2-0 victory against the University of Rochester. Her first goal of the season went down as the game winner in a 3-1 win against Frostburg State University while she also tallied a goal in a 4-1 win at No. 18 Chicago. The senior now has 11 goals for her career along with six assists. Last week, Quiros received first team All-University Athletic Association (UAA) recognition after twice being named to the second team. In 2014, Quiros was a NSCAA All-Scholar All-Region recipient.

Off the field, Quiros has served as an editorial intern for Paste Magazine, was a reporting intern for The Chautauquan Daily and was an account assistant for EOS Marketing and Communications. A member of Delta Gamma Beta Nu, Quiros is a professional and creative writing major with a 3.97 GPA.

Quiros and the Tartans put their 17-1-1 record on the line against No. 20 Calvin College on Friday, November 20 at 11:00 a.m. in the NCAA sectional semifinal. The game will be played on Carnegie Mellon's home field where the Tartans own a 7-0-2 record in NCAA tournament play.
