#2 Tartans Shut Out Point Park, 2-0

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team won 2-0 after traveling downtown to Point Park University on Saturday, September 23. The Tartans are now 8-0 for the season.

Inside the Box Score

  • Junior Catherine MacNichol scored the first goal for the Tartans in the 16th minute.
  • The assist was made by graduate student Kaitlyn Montague.
  • The second goal for the Tartans was an own goal by the Point Park defense in the 17th minute.
  • Freshman Maddie Kellogg earned the win after facing two shots in the first half and shared the shutout with freshman Kate Bergen who played the full second half.
  • The Tartans also recorded shots on goal by freshman Natalie Rayce, senior Rachel Martini, junior Maria Askounis, junior Emma Shirzad, and senior Breanna Valentovish. 

Notes

  • The Tartans are now on an eight-game winning streak, only one game away from tying their season-opening streak in 2014.
  • MacNichol recorded her first goal of the season.
  • This is the first in-season game between Point Park and Carnegie Mellon.
