#2 Tartans Win Seventh Game Away From Home

(BEREA, Ohio) - The second-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team remained undefeated after topping Baldwin Wallace University 2-1 on Sunday, September 24. The Tartans are now 9-0 while the Yellow Jackets are 4-3-1.  

Inside the Box Score

  • Graduate student Caitlynn Owens opened the game's scoring with a goal in the 10th minute with a header off an assist from junior Alana Frederick.
  • Junior Maria Askounis scored the team's second goal in the 63rd minute.
  • Freshman Saveria Ulizzi recorded her first assist after a short pass to Askounis inside the 18-yard box.
  • Baldwin Wallace jumped onto the scoreboard in the 73rd minute with a goal from Kalyn Rich.
  • Other shots on goal for the Tartans came from sophomore Vivian Wang with two, Ulizzi, freshman Natalie Rayce, and junior Catherine MacNichol.

  • The Tartans are now 2-0 in games against Baldwin Wallace University during the last two seasons.
  • Owens collected her second career goal for the Tartans.
  • Askounis has scored against the Yellow Jackets in back-to-back seasons.
