Christopher Moraga was hired as a full-time assistant coach for the Tartans women's soccer program in March 2018 and promoted to associate head coach in 2023.

After one season with the Tartans, Moraga began to leave his footprint on the program in recruiting, planning and running training sessions, and working with video and scouting. In his second season, the Tartans reached the NCAA Division III Championship National Semifinal for the first time in program history.

Year three for Moraga was an abbreviated season due to COVID-19 putting off the fall season to the spring with just three games played. However, Moraga and the Tartans returned to the field in 2021 and once again made a run in the NCAA Tournament, finishing in the Sweet 16. The team finished with a 13-6-1 record and played eight nationally ranked opponents in 2021 with a record of 3-5. All five losses were by one goal. One of Moraga's first recruits, junior Alex Adams, earned her second United Soccer Coaches All-America award with junior Nikki Hasson joining her on the All-Region team. First-year player Maria Askounis earned University Athletic Association (UAA) Rookie of the Year honors, the first honor for the Tartans since the 2014 season. Adams also repeated as a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American and was joined by seniors Jocelyn Mayer and Maddy Lui.

Moraga's fifth year on staff saw the Tartans advance to the NCAA Championship Sweet 16 once again and receive a national ranking as high as seventh during the season. Senior Rachel Legg earned defensive player of the year accolades from the UAA, D3soccer.com, and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as well as All-America Second Team selection from United Soccer Coaches. The team posted a 14-3-2 record with a second-place finish in the UAA at 5-1-1.

Upon his hiring, head coach Yon Struble said, "Chris is an excellent addition to our staff. He is a believer in Division III athletics and knows the national landscape of D3 women's soccer. We feel Chris is the one that will help us take the next step in achieving our team goals." That statement certainly came to fruition.

With more than 10 years of coaching experience, Moraga joined the Carnegie Mellon coaching staff after a five-year stint at Whittier College in Whittier, California. Moraga served as an assistant coach at Whittier, helping to lead the Poets to the NCAA tournament for just the second time in school history after winning the 2017 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

Additionally, Moraga has experience as a club and high school coach, as he got his start with the Crusaders Soccer Club in San Diego, California. While at Whittier, Moraga also worked as a staff coach and college advisor for the Fullerton Rangers, and as a staff coach for U.S. Youth Soccer.

Moraga holds his National C and National Youth License coaching certifications from the United States Soccer Federation, received his Premier Coaching Diploma from United Soccer Coaches and was a 30 Under 30 Program selection in 2016.
