Freshman Dazzle in First Meet of Season
(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team began the season with a dual-meet victory against Case Western Reserve University by a 228.5-71.5 score at home on Saturday, October 29.
Top Performances
- Freshman Savannah Xu set three pool records – 100-yard backstroke (56.21), 200-yard backstroke (2:00.73), and 200-yard IM (2:05.13). All three times also meet the B time standard for NCAA qualification.
- Freshman Annie Wang won both the 1,000-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle in times of 10:41.29 and 5:13.55, respectively.
- Freshman Mia Li went 1:56.25 in the 200-yard freestyle for a victory.
- Freshman Audrey Lambert was a double winner - 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.77 and 200-yard breaststroke in 2:24.55.
- Freshman Audrey Soetanto picked up a victory in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:08.92.
- Freshman Grace Malinger won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.29 while freshman Eliana Szabo won the 100-yard freestyle in 53.38.
- Malinger also won the 100-yard butterfly in 59.06.
- The Tartans also won both the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay.
- Junior Kelli Kuramoto hit two NCAA regional qualifying scores with victories on the 1-meter board (265.80 points) and the 3-meter board (271.50 points).
