Top Times Lead the Day at Kenyon Invitational

(GAMBIER, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming team continued competition at the Kenyon College Invitational on Friday, November 18 with multiple season-best times and a school record. The Tartans are in third place with 895 team points. Kenyon leads the meet with 1,830.5 points.

Top Performances

  • The 200-yard medley relay finished fifth in a time of 1:45.79 behind the swims from freshmen Savannah Xu, Yitian Zhang, Grace Malinger, and Eliana Szabo. The time is also a season-best for the team.
  • Freshman Audrey Soetanto swam a season-best time of 4:32.67 in the 400-yard IM to win the B Final.
  • Sophomore Carolann Kimock was the top finisher in the 100-yard butterfly for the Tartans, touching in a season-best 58.10 in 13th place.
  • Szabo placed eighth in the 200-yard freestyle in a finals time of 1:53.65, a team-leading time.
  • Zhang touched seventh overall in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.98, nearly two seconds better than her previous season-best.
  • Xu touched fifth in the 100-yard backstroke in 56.74 with senior Tiffany Tseng finishing sixth in a season-best time of 56.76 and senior Bonnie Wang also swimming a season-best time of 57.46 to place eighth.
  • The 800-yard freestyle relay closed the night with a sixth-place showing in 7:40.72 by Xu, freshman Mia Li, Soetanto, and Szabo.

Notes

  • Xu set a new school record in the 100-yard butterfly in the preliminaries with a time of 55.86 but did not swim the event in the finals. The school record was previously held by Gillian Crews set in 2015.

  • The Tartans will continue the competition at Kenyon on Saturday, November 19 with preliminaries at 10:30 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m.
