Tartans Top Gettysburg Behind 10 Event Wins

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team won 10 events against Gettysburg College on Saturday, November 4 in the third dual meet of the season, scoring 168 points to Gettysburg's 94.

Top Performances

  • Relays: Sophomores Grace Malinger, Yitian Zhang and Eliana Szabo along with senior Zoe Jacobs won the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:38.65.
  • Malinger also won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.77.
  • The Tartans swept the 200-yard backstroke with sophomore Savannah Xu finishing first in 2:04.86, followed by junior Emma Hoffman in 2:10.86 and sophomore Sophie Elliott in 2:11.93.
  • Xu also won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.46 and the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.48.
  • The Tartans swept the 200-yard butterfly with sophomore Audrey Soetanto finishing first in 2:09.38, followed by Elliott in 2:11.21 and junior Reece Whatmore in 2:15.08.
  • Szabo won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.22, followed by junior Katie Rock with a time of 1:57.74. Szabo also won the 100-yard freestyle in 53.41.
  • Sophomore Audrey Lambert won the 200-yard IM in 2:11.46, followed by Soetanto with a time of 2:14.84. Lambert also won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:06.74.
  • Freshman Cat Bryan led the Tartan divers with scores of 231.15 on the 1-meter board and 244.13 on the 3-meter board.

Notes

  • This is the third straight meet that Xu won three individual events.

Up Next

  • The Tartan swimmers will head to Ohio for the Kenyon Invitational on November 16, 17 and 18.
  • The Tartan divers will host the CMU Diving Invitational, scheduled to begin November 17 at 4 p.m.
