Cecil Receives UAA Athlete of the Week Honors

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Katie Cecil (Huntington Beach, Calif./Ocean View) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for her performance in leading the fourth-ranked Tartans to a 2-0 week over regionally-ranked opponents with two wins at first singles.  

In a 7-2 win over 26th-ranked Denison University, Cecil defeated the Central Region's eighth-ranked player Sarah Short before topping the third-ranked player in the Atlantic South Region Elaine Baik from Johns Hopkins University in a 6-3 team victory. Cecil dropped only six games en route to both straight-set victories.
