#8 Tartans Earn NCAA Championship Bid; Set to Host Regional

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team will play for the 2013 NCAA Championship as they host a seven-team regional event from May 10-12. The Tartans finished the regular season ranked eighth in the national poll after placing second at the University Athletic Association Championship among six nationally ranked teams.

This bid to the NCAA Championships is the program's ninth straight as the Tartans have won the regional three times.

The Tartans (12-7) will play Marywood College (12-5), the winner of the Colonial States Athletic Conference, in the first round while St. Vincent College will play Mary Washington University and La Roche College will play Scranton Universty. Johns Hopkins Universty, ranked seventh in the nation, received a first round bye and will face the winner of La Roche and Scranton. All dates and times will be determined at a later date.

The regional championship will be played on Sunday with the winners of the eight regionals to play for the national championship on Tuesday, May 21 through Thursday, May 23 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
