Tartan Women Fall in ITA Regional Doubles Final

(FREDERICKSBURG, Va.) – Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis players junior Bryn Raschke (Del Mar, Calif./Torrey Pines) and freshman Vanessa Pavia (Thornwood, N.Y./Academy of our Lady of Good Counsel) played for the doubles championship Monday afternoon while Pavia played in the semifinals in singles competition at the ITA Southeast Regional Women's Tennis Championship hosted by the University of Mary Washington.

Raschke and Pavia faced the top seed in the championship of doubles action, Sonja Meighan and Patricia Kirkland of Washington and Lee, falling 6-2, 6-3. Great matches were seen all the way to the final as the junior and freshman pair defeated the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds.

Earlier in the morning, Pavia ran into Meighan in the semifinals of singles play, falling 7-5, 6-2.

The two will be back in action Saturday, October 5 when the team travels to Oberlin, Ohio to face Oberlin College.
