No. 7 Tartans Drop 6-3 Contest to No. 5 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps

(CLAREMONT, Calif.) - The seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team lost a tough match to fifth-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) on Tuesday, March 8 on the Athenas home court, 6-3. The Tartans are now 8-3 on the season while CMS moved to 7-1.

The second doubles pair of freshman Jamie Vizelman (Highland Heights, Ohio/Mayfield) and senior Brooke Tsu (Hillsborough, Calif./Burlingame) gave the Tartans a point with a 9-8 (7-2) victory but the Tartans trailed 2-1 after doubles play.

The other victories for the Tartans came from junior Nicholle Torres (Weston, Fla./Great Neck South) at second singles, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), and sophomore Cori Sidell (Redwood Shores, Calif./Carlmont) at third singles, 6-2, 6-3.

The Tartans will be back in action against No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Thursday, March 10 at 4 p.m. PST. The meeting will be a rematch of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship final where the Sagehens won 5-0 on February 28.
