Tsu Receives UAA Weekly Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University senior Brooke Tsu (Hillsborough, Calif./Burlingame) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for her performance this past weekend in helping the 11th-ranked Tartans to a pair of road victories over nationally ranked opponents. The Tartans defeated #12 Johns Hopkins University 8-1 on Saturday before topping #18 University of Mary Washington 5-4 on Sunday afternoon.
    
Tsu went 4-0 on the weekend winning both her matches at No. 1 singles and teamed with freshman Jamie Vizelman to win a pair at No. 2 doubles which gave the Tartans their first point in each match. Tsu topped Ashnaa Rao, ranked second regionally, of Johns Hopkins 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, before defeating Kait Brogan, 6-2, 6-4, of Mary Washington Sunday. In doubles, the tandem won 8-5 in both matches.

The Tartans will have the next two weeks off from competition as they prepare for the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship in Altamonte Springs, Florida, from Friday, April 22 to Sunday, April 24. The draw for the tournament is due out next week.
