Tartans Win Third Straight to Earn 10th Victory of Season

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team was forced to move its match indoors due to cold and snowy weather on Saturday, March 26, and proceeded to take down Division II West Liberty University by a 9-0 score to move to 10-4 for the year.

The Tartans swept through doubles action with the number two pair of senior Janabelle Wu (San Jose, Calif. / Lynbrook) and freshman Crystal Zhou (Austin, Texas / LASA) finishing first by an 8-2 score. Senior Lindy Cornwall (Poway, Calif. / Poway) and junior Bin Zheng (Miami, Fla. / Doral Academy) won 8-3 at first doubles with the freshmen pair of Zoe Angell (Midland, Mich. / H.H. Dow) and Simran Bedi (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) winning 8-6 at third doubles.

Cornwall was the first to finish singles play with a 6-0, 6-3 win at the third position with Zhou earning the match point with a 6-4, 6-0 win at the second slot.

Another notable win came from senior Victoria Chang (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) who picked up her sixth straight win in singles action with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 victory at sixth singles.

The Tartans will next play at the University of Mary Washington on Saturday, April 2 at 11:00 a.m.
