#15 Tartans Down Rochester at UAA Championship

(ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.) - The 15th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team played the University of Rochester in the consolation semifinal of the University Athletic Association (UAA) on Saturday at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The Tartans defeated the Yellowjackets 5-0 and are now 12-6 on the season while Rochester moves to 5-13.

How it Happened:

  • Carnegie Mellon swept doubles play with the duo of sophmore Anna Chow and sophomore Divya Venkatarama taking the first point winning 8-1.
  • The sophomore tandem of Anika Joshi and freshman Ainika Hou won 8-3 at third doubles before senior Danna Taylor and junior Sarah Yang completed the sweep with an 8-2 win in the top spot.
  • Hou made the score 4-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at six singles.
  • The match was clinched when Joshi won at four singles by the scores of 6-0, 6-2.

  • The Tartans will play the winner of New York University and Brandeis University in the fifth-place match at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 28.
