#14 Women’s Tennis Selected to Host NCAA Opening Rounds

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team has been selected to compete for the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship and will have the honor of hosting the first, second and third rounds of competition. The appearance in the postseason event will be the 18th for the program, all coming under head coach Andrew Girard. The Tartans will host action on Thursday, May 9 through Saturday, May 11 with five teams traveling to Pittsburgh.

The 14th-ranked Tartans will be joined in Pittsburgh by top ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 28th-ranked North Central College, Grove City College, Transylvania University and Penn State Harrisburg.

Penn State Harrisburg (14-6-1) will face Transylvania (13-7) with North Central (23-7) and Grove City (14-5) squaring off on Thursday to start the tournament. The Tartans (13-6) will face the winner of North Central and Grove City on Friday while the winner of Penn State Harrisburg and Transylvania will face CMS (22-1) on Friday.

The two Friday winners will play on Saturday for the chance to advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals at the Dwight Davis Memorial Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri, from May 20-23.

The Tartans' home tennis venue is located in the center of campus with six playing courts, a video scoreboard and individual court cameras for live streaming. Should play get moved indoors, the tournament will be played at Alpha Tennis and Fitness in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
