Tartans Compete Against Top Competition at Edinboro

(EDINBORO, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at Edinboro University on Saturday, January 21. Other teams competing consisted of host Edinboro, Robert Morris University, Penn State Behrend, Walsh University, Lock Haven University, Alfred College, Fredonia State University and Alderson-Broaddus College.

Sophomore Jacqueline Guevel (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School) finished second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.15 to start her second-year campaign while senior Ivana Moses (New Rochelle, N.Y./Phillips Exeter) was sixth in the 60-meter dash in 8.46 seconds.

Junior Emily Wobb (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland) won the 3,000-meter run when she crossed the finish line in 10:08.71.

Freshman Sasha Spalding (Springhill, Fla./Springstead) was the top Tartan to finish the 200-meter dash when she crossed second in her heat and seventh overall in 27.59 seconds. Freshman Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) was seventh in the mile run when she finished in 5:27.91.

Moses also competed in the long jump where she finished fourth with a distance of 4.91 meters. Sophomore Marissa Bynoe (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) placed fourth in the triple jump for the Tartans with a distance of 9.82 meters.

The Tartans will compete again on Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28 in Geneva, Ohio at the GaREAT Sports Complex for the GaREAT College Open.
