Two Earn Career Best Marks for Tartans at Dragon Grand Prix

(TIFFIN, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team entered the Dragon Grand Prix hosted by Tiffin University on Saturday, February 10 for its fourth meet of the season. The Tartans won two events for the day in the unscored meet while two earned career-best marks.

Sophomore Valerie Collins (Wellesley, Mass. / Wellesley) won the mile race in a career-best time of 5:24.01 with junior Wade Lacey (Albany, N.Y. / The Albany Academies) placing third in 5:30.29.

Senior Sarah Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Hampton) and junior Rose Ciriello (Madison, N.J. / Madison) finished 1-2 in the 800-meter run with times of 2:20.26 and 2:20.60.

Freshman Isabelle Chickanosky (St. Louis, Mo. / St. Joseph's Academy) earned a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter run after winning her heat in 10:56.76. The freshman knocked more than 27 seconds off her previous best time in the event.

Sophomore Leah Kendrick (Doylestown, Pa. / Central Bucks East) finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.70.

In field events, sophomore Michelle Karabin (Ruffs Dale, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic) finished sixth in the pole vault after clearing 3.40 meters. Senior Sarah Milholer (Stow, Ohio / Walsh Jesuit) also cleared 3.40 meters, a career best, and finished eighth after judge's decision.

Freshman Alessandra Tully (Chappaqua, N.Y. / Horace Greeley) tossed the weight throw a career-best 3.81 meters and the shot put 9.19 meters to lead the Tartans in both events.

The Tartans will compete again on Friday, February 16 at the Ohio State University Indoor Tune-Up Meet.
