Reilly Wins Mile in School Record Time, as Tartans Place Fourth at UAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

(NEW YORK, N.Y.) — The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team placed fourth for the third time in school history at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by New York University at The Armory in New York City on Sunday. The women scored 64.5 points placing fourth behind Washington University with 168 points, University of Chicago with 161.33 points and Emory University with 96.33 points.

In the mile-run, senior Kate Reilly (Scranton, Pa. / Scranton Prep) won with a school record time of 5:02.72. Reilly tops Erin Kiekhaefer's time of 5:03.48 which was set in 2015. Fellow senior Valerie Collins placed eighth in the mile with a time of 5:11.13.

Senior Leah Kendrick (Doylestown, Pa. / Central Bucks East) placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.19.

Freshman Samantha Giordani (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Ambridge) took second in the 200-meter dash bettering her school record with a time of 25.31. Giordani also placed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.98 matching her qualifying time.

Sophomore Taylor Jacobs (Bozeman, Mont. / The Taft School) placed sixth in the 800-meter with a time of 2:20.31, also matching her qualifying time. Senior Abigail Levine (Bethesda, Md. / Bethesda Chevy Chase) finished seventh in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:23.01.

Junior Ally Tully (Chappaqua, N.Y. / Horace Greeley) placed eighth in the shot-put with a toss of 10.10 meters. Freshman Liz Barre (Ithaca, N.Y. / Taft) placed sixth in the high jump clearing 1.50.

The women's 4x400-meter team of senior Joanna Baranowski (Syosset, N.Y. / Syosset), freshman Jasmine Fahrenkrug (Vestal, N.Y. / Vestal), Jacobs and Giordani placed fourth in a time of 3:59.60.

The Tartans will compete next at the Ohio Northern Last Chance Meet in Ada, Ohio on Saturday, February 7.
