Tartans Finish Fourth at UAA Indoor Championships

(WALTHAM, Mass.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's indoor track and field team placed fourth at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Championships on Sunday afternoon hosted by Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. The Tartans finished the championships with 67 points while Washington University in St. Louis scored 194 points to take first.

Top Performances on the Track:

  • Senior Samantha Giordani won the 200-meter dash crossing in 24.97. The senior also placed third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.72.
  • Senior Liz Barre took second in the 60-meter hurdles as she posted a personal-best time of 8.87.
  • Junior Isabella Rhee took seventh in the 400-meter run when she crossed in 1:00.05.
  • The 4x400-meter relay team of Rhee, junior Emily Lannen, Barre and Giordani closed the championships with a fourth-place finish crossing in 3:58.65.

Top Performances in the Field:

  • Barre won the high jump after clearing the bar at 1.63 meters.
  • Sophomore Katie Monahan placed fourth in the shot put throwing the element 12.48 meters.
  • Sophomore Jocelyn Kiefel recorded a career-best jump of 10.79 meters to place eighth in the triple jump.

  • The Tartans will next compete at the All-Atlantic Regional Championships on March 3-4.
