Barre Heading Back to NCAA Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – Graduate student Liz Barre of the Carnegie Mellon University women's indoor track and field team has received an invite to compete at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 8-9.

Barre qualified for the championships in the pentathlon and high jump. She will enter the competition ranked third in the pentathlon with 3,649 points while ranking fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.70 meters. Last year, Barre became the first indoor track and field national champion in program history when she won the pentathlon with a school record point total of 3,837.  The year prior, she finished seventh at the championships in the pentathlon earning All-America honors with 3,399 points.

The graduate student has also had success in the high jump at the national meet, placing fourth last year after clearing 1.66 meters, to become the first Tartan woman to earn two All-America honors at the same indoor meet.

Barre becomes the second Tartan female athlete to compete in three consecutive years at the indoor championships meet and the first Tartan to compete in two events in back-to-back seasons at the indoor championships.

This year's championships will be held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
