Barre Earns All-America Honor in Pentathlon at NCAA Indoor Championships

(VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.) – Graduate student Liz Barre of the Carnegie Mellon University women's indoor track and field team earned All-America recognition at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday. The championships are being held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

NCAA Performances:

  • Barre placed fourth in the pentathlon with 3,740 points.
  • She started the day placing third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.85 seconds. Barre followed with placing second in the high jump clearing the bar at 1.68 meters. Next, was a career-best throw of 11.25 meters in the shot put to place fourth for the graduate student.
  • Barre took fourth in the long jump with a jump of 5.47 meters. She then closed the day with a time of 2:32.16 in the 800-meter run, placing 13th.
  • This marks her third straight All-America status in the pentathlon as she won the title a year ago and placed seventh in 2022.

Notes:

  • Barre now has four All-American honors for the indoor season for her career. The other one in the high jump a year ago.
  • Barre will seek her fifth All-American honor for the indoor season tomorrow in the high jump. Last season, she placed fourth in the high jump at the indoor championships.
