Tartans Sweep St. Vincent

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team hosted St. Vincent College Tuesday, September 11, and won 3-0 by the scores of 28-26, 24-14 and 25-18.  The Tartans improve to 4-6 as the Bearcats are now 4-5.  

The Tartans trailed 26-25 in the first game before rattling off three straight points to win 28-26 and never trailed the rest of the match throughout games two and three. Sophomore Ali Celentano (Mission Viejo, Calif./JSerra Catholic) led the offensive attack for the Tartans with a team-high 14 kills while hitting .345.  Junior Rachel Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Huron) ended with 11 kills and hit .429, as fellow junior Senna Parsa (Bellevue, Wash./Newport) totaled seven kills.

Junior setter Emily Wright (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) picked up 33 assists while sophomore Ali Nichols (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) collected 28 digs.  Miller and Parsa ended the match with 15 and 12 digs, respectively, while Miller had the Tartans two lone service aces in the win.

The Tartans remain at home this weekend hosting the Carnegie Mellon Invite on Friday and Saturday.  The Tartans first match of the invite will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday against Scranton.
