Tartans Down Waynesburg
(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team hosted Waynesburg University Wednesday, September 26 in its final dual match of the season, and came away with a 3-1 victory winning by the scores of 22-25, 25-16, 25-16 and 25-10. The win moves the Tartans record to 10-9 while the Yellow Jackets are now 5-9.
Two Tartans had double digit kills with sophomore Ali Celentano (Mission Viejo, Calif./JSerra Catholic) leading the way with 14 and junior Senna Parsa (Bellevue, Wash./Newport) totaling 12. Junior Olivia Mora (San Antonio, Texas/Saint Mary's Hall) notched nine kills for the Tartan and was strong at the net defensively as well with five total blocks.
Freshman Emily Lawlis (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands College Park) handed out a season-best 24 assists and junior Emily Wright (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) tallied 15 assists.
Sophomore Ali Nichols (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) collected 27 digs and junior Rachel Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Huron) had 17 while Parsa ended the night with 15 digs.
The Tartans will next compete in the University Athletic Association Round Robin #1 at the University of Chicago, on Saturday, September 29. They open against the host 14th-ranked Maroons before playing sixth-ranked Emory University on the first day.
