Tartans Finish 1-1 at Frostburg Tri Match

The Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team traveled to Frostburg, Maryland for two matches hosted by Frostburg State University on Saturday, October 20 and came home after a 1-1 day. The Tartans defeated host Frostburg 3-0 but fell to Salisbury University 3-0 in their first match.

Against Salisbury the Tartans finished with 35 kills dropping the games 25-19, 25-22 and 25-22. Junior Racel Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Huron) led with 11 kills while sophomore Ali Celentano (Mission Viejo, Calif./JSerra Catholic) collected 10 while hitting .231 for the match. Junior Emily Wright (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) had 15 assits as freshman Emily Lawlis (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands College Park) totaled 10. Junior Ali Nichols (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) led with 16 digs while Miller collected 15.

The Tartans turned it up for their second match defeating Frostburg by scores of 25-14, 25-18 and 25-15. Carnegie Mellon finished with a hitting percentage of .259 and blocked eight attempts by the Bobcats.

Celentano finished with 13 kills and hit .480 after 25 attempts. Lawlis led with 24 assists as Wright tallied 12. Defensively, Nichols had 14 digs, Miller 10 with senior Kasey LaMothe (Bedford Hills, N.Y./School of the Holy Child) and junior Mary Stadelman (Washington, Pa./Trinity) picking up eight apiece. At the net, juniors Senna Parsa (Bellevue, Wash./Newport) and Olivia Mora (San Antonio, Texas/Saint Mary's Hall) each had two block assists with freshman Rebecca Wolfinger (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley) taking two block assists as well.

The Tartans will next travel to the University of Mount Union to face Mount Union and Heidelberg University on Saturday, October 27.
