Volleyball Wins Sixth Straight With 3-1 Win Over Marietta

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team continued its winning way with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 25-23) victory over Marietta College Wednesday, September 11 on the court of Skibo Gymnasium.  The win marks the sixth straight for the Tartans as they improve to 9-1 and are off to their best start since 2004.  The Pioneers drop to 4-5 on the season.

Junior Ali Celentano (Mission Viejo, Calif./JSerra Catholic) led the way with a season-high 20 kills. Senior Senna Parsa (Bellevue, Wash./Newport) had seven kills while recording 16 digs and three block assists. In the win Parsa totaled three service aces and freshman Jackie Gibbons (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) tallied two.

Sophomore Emily Lawlis (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands College Park) finished the evening with 37 assists and a career-high 25 digs while senior Ali Nichols (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) recorded a season-best 30 digs.

The Tartans will be idle this weekend before hosting the Carnegie Mellon DoubleTree Tournament on Friday and Saturday, September 20-21.  The Tartans first match of the tournament will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday against Geneva.
