Celentano Repeats as AVCA All-Region

(LEXINGTON, Ky.) – For the second consecutive season, junior right side Ali Celentano (Mission Viejo, Calif./JSerra Catholic) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team was named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Region team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Celentano receives the honor days after being named to the All-University Athletic Association squad and the same day the Tartans will compete in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship.

Celentano ended the regular season with a team-high 406 kills while ranking second in the UAA.  The junior also leads the team with 3.47 kills per game.  Celentano was second on the team this past season with 86 blocks and a .237 hitting percentage.  She recorded a career-high nine blocks against nationally ranked Stevenson earlier this season.  Celentano is also tied with Parsa for second on the team with 33 service aces. She recorded her 1,000th career kill against Johns Hopkins on October 26.

Celentano becomes the fourth Tartan to claim the honor in back-to-back seasons while there have now been 10 all-region selections in the program's history
