Gibbons Named ECAC South Player of the Week

(DANBURY, Conn.) – Junior Jackie Gibbons (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team was named Corvias Eastern Conference Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Player of the Week.  Gibbons helped the 21st-ranked Tartans remain in the national rankings after the Tartans posted a 4-1 week.   
        
Gibbons played a huge factor in the Tartans' 3-2 win over #25 Mount Union.  In the win over the Purple Raiders, Gibbons posted a career-best 18 kills and hit .333.  For the week, Gibbons collected 62 kills, hit .303 and had four matches with double-digit kills.  The junior also tabbed 15 total blocks, five solo.  

Carnegie Mellon travels to New York University for the University Athletic Association Round Robin #1 where they'll play Brandeis University, Case Western Reserve University and Emory University starting Saturday, October 3.
