Gibbons Receives UAA Weekly Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Junior Jackie Gibbons (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week.  Gibbons helped the 24th-ranked Tartans to a 2-1 week, as the Tartans competed at the Juniata Wid Guisler Invitational Friday and Saturday, October 23-24.   
        
Gibbons started the invite with 12 kills while hitting .455 against the top ranked Eagles of Juniata and added three service aces.  On the weekend, Gibbons posted 28 kills, hit .400 and averaged 2.8 kills per set.  The junior also totaled six block assists and was named to the all-tournament team.

The Tartans will return to action on Friday, October 30 when they host Point Park University at 7:00 p.m. in Skibo Gymnasium for the last regular season match of the season.
