Volleyball Selected as Top Seed for ECAC South Tournament

(DANBURY, Conn.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team, with a record of 27-7, has been selected as the number one-seed in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Tournament.   The Tartans will play Marymount University, the eight-seed, in the first round of the eight-team regional on Wednesday, November 11 at 6:00 p.m. If the Tartans advance, they will host the semifinals and finals on Saturday, November 14.  
    
The other first-round contests on Wednesday have No. 2 Swarthmore College (19-9) hosting No. 7 FDU-Florham (21-15), third seed Lebanon Valley College (21-10) hosting No. 6 Geneva College (26-8) and No. 4 Bethany College (29-9) playing host to No. 5 DeSales University (22-11).

The first-round winners will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, November 14th hosted by the highest remaining seed. The winner of Carnegie Mellon/Marymount will face the winner of Bethany/DeSales in one semifinal and the winner of Swarthmore/ FDU-Florham will face the winner of Lebanon Valley/Geneva in the other semifinal. The semifinal winners will meet on Saturday, November 15 for the championship.

First Round – Wednesday, November 11

No. 1 Carnegie Mellon (22-11) vs. No. 8 Marymount (18-10) – 6:00 p.m.

No. 2 Swarthmore (19-9) vs. No. 7 FDU-Florham (21-15) – 7:00 p.m.

No. 3 Lebanon Valley (21-10) vs. No. 6 Geneva (26-8) – 7:00 p.m.

No. 4 Bethany (29-9) vs. No. 5 DeSales (22-11) – 7:00 p.m.

Semifinals – Saturday, November 14 at Highest Remaining Seed

No. 2 Swarthmore/No. 7 FDU-Florham vs No. 3 Lebanon Valley/No. 6 Geneva winner – TBA

No. 1 Carnegie Mellon/No. 8 Marymount vs No. 4 Bethany/No. 5 DeSales winner – TBA
