Yan Moves into Ninth All-Time in Career Assists in Tartans 3-2 Win Over Point Park

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team hosted NAIA Point Park University on Tuesday night in Weigand Gymnasium. The Tartans plated their third five-set match and walked away with a 3-2 win over the Pioneers. Carnegie Mellon moves to 6-1 while Point Park is now 6-3.

Inside The Box Score

  • Freshman Elizabeth Schlemmer led the Tartans wither fourth double-digit kill match of the season with 16 against the Pioneers while hitting .342
  • Senior Olivia Devereux recorded a season-high 10 kills in the win.
  • Junior Laura Reichard had three of the Tartans 13 service aces while Devereux, junior Mindee Lai and sophomore Abby Chen each had two. In all, eight Tartans recorded at least one ace.
  • Senior Stella Yan tabbed her sixth double-double of the year with a team-high 45 assists and she added 16 digs.
  • Chen led the Tartans with 20 digs, as Schlemmer had 13 and Reichard ended with 11.

Notes and Notables  

  • Yan moved into ninth all-time for assists in program history. She now has 1,550 assists for her career.
  • The wins marks three straight for the Cardinal and Gray over the Pioneers.
  • It marked the seventh straight match that the Tartans had at least four record double-digit digs.

  • Next up for the Tartans is the University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin #1 to be played at Washington University in St. Louis. The first of three matches will start at 12:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, September 17 against Brandeis University.
