Tartans Close UAA Play at Rochester

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team completed play on Sunday afternoon at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin #3 hosted by the University Rochester. The Tartans started the day with a five-set (3-2) loss to Case Western Reserve University and then dropped a 3-1 decision to the University of Chicago. The Cardinal and Gray end association play with a 3-4 mark and are now 13-5 overall.

  • Three Tartans recorded double-digit kills with freshman Elizabeth Schlemmer leading with a season-high 20. Junior Laura Reichard recorded a career-best 19 while classmate Jane Dean finished with 13.
  • Reichard hit .283 with Schlemmer hitting .271.
  • Senior Stella Yan handed out a career-best 55 assists.
  • Yan, senior Olivia Devereux and sophomore Abby Chen each had two service aces.
  • Four Tartans had double-digit digs with Reichard leading with 25. Chen had 19, junior Mindee Lai 18 and Yan 12.
  • At the net, Dean had two block solos and three block assists.

  • The Tartans collected 10 service aces with Chen collecting four of them. Reichard, Lai and Schlemmer each had two.
  • Schlemmer continued to lead the Tartans with 15 kills.
  • Yan ended with 41 assists.
  • Chen was one of five Tartans to record double-digit digs, as she finished with a team-high 20. with Reichard had 15, Chen with 14, Lai 13, Yan 12 and Schlemmer 10.
