Yan Earns Second UAA Athlete of the Week Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Carnegie Mellon University senior Stella Yan was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Volleyball Athlete of the Week after leading the Tartans to a 3-1 week in non-conference action.

Yan had a career week as she surpassed 2,000 career assists with a career-best 60 in a 3-1 victory for the Tartans at Thiel College, the Presidents' Athletic Conference leader, to start the week's action on Wednesday, October 19. Through the four matches played, including three at the Wid Guisler Invitational hosted by Juniata College, Yan tallied 160 assists for an 11.43 assists per set average. She also recorded 11 kills and hit .290. Against Thiel, Yan hit .556 with five kills and no errors. The senior setter also recorded 32 digs.

The Tartans will host three matches this weekend to close their home season beginning with a senior night celebration against Hiram College on Friday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m.
